Our School Philosophy

We always tell our students that in order for you to become a Black Belt Leader on the outside...You first must become a Black Belt Leader on the inside.  Therefore we always remind ourselves of the higher goals of the Martial Arts in each and every class by reciting one or more of the following Martial Arts Creeds.  It’s imperative that all of our students maintain a positive state of mind and possess a high moral and ethical standard.

The Original Tenets of TaeKwon-Do (TaeKwon-Do Jungshin)

Courtesy (Ye Ui)

Integrity (Yom Chi)

Perseverance (In Nae)

Self-Control (Guk Gi)

Indomitable Spirit (Baekjul Boolgool)

The Student Creed

(The original tenets of TKD re-written in sentence format)

1.      I will develop myself in a positive manner and avoid anything that would reduce my mental growth or my physical health.

2.      I will develop self-discipline in order to bring out the best in myself and others.

3.      I will use what I learn in class constructively and defensively, to help myself and humanity, and never be abusive or offensive.

The Instructor’s Creed

1.      I will teach this class as though it is the most important class I will ever teach.

2.      I am patient and enthusiastic.

3.      I lead by example.

The Black Belt Oath

1.      I accept with honor and privilege the Black Belt in the martial arts, and do hereby swear to uphold the standards of Courtesy, Integrity, Perseverance, Self-Control, and Indomitable Spirit.

2.      I sincerely pledge to honor my instructor and the school with loyalty and support, and to value and carry-on the martial arts tradition with respect and dignity.

3.      I further pledge, with humility and gratitude, to continue my mental, physical, and spiritual growth to the highest level, to lead by example, and to share what I have learned with others.
